Hello, I’m Youhyun, better known as Academic Coach. I am a professional STEM educator with 6 years of experience and a content creator.

I was born in Korea, raised in China, and currently live in Los Angeles, CA. For K–12, I attended a Korean school, a Chinese school, and an international school that followed the California curriculum, eventually graduating with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. I then came to Los Angeles for college and graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. I am currently pursuing my second Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics at UCLA.

Switching from school to school, speaking different languages, and moving between completely different school systems was a challenge for me as a student. However, I found that math and physics had intrigued me since I was little. Experiencing different approaches to math in various school systems helped me learn it from multiple perspectives.

My journey as an educator started during my college years. Many of my peers who were pre-med undergraduate struggled with Physics classes while they were the easiest for me. I explained Physics concepts to my peers and surprisingly they were complementing how clearly I can explain it compared to our professors. That’s how I started my journey as an educator. In the past 6 years, I have worked in various settings with elementary school kids to high school kids, from robotics to math to physics and chemistry, from one-on-one to group class with different ages.

In 2025, I founded Academic-Coach.org to reach more students locally and across the nation. My goal is to make STEM education fun and engaging for every student, especially those who do not have access to quality educational resources.
